Role & Responsibility
The Echo Toolkit has been created to support art and design educators to address visual plagiarism in the creative classroom. It was designed as a modular resource, partitioning complex moral and ethical issues into bite-sized topics and providing an optimal environment for discussion, critical thinking, and creative practice.
The visual language was inspired by the definition of an echo, “a close parallel to an idea”; the concentric circles provide the visual metaphor of repetition and reverberation, and the wordmark utilises a rounded sans serif typeface with a customised circular icon for the letter O, representing the cyclic rotation of creative concepts. The main monochromatic colour palette provides a bold backdrop for a contrasting rainbow gradient with these juxtaposed elements designed to make a refreshingly contemporary statement about what can often be perceived as a dry topic.
